DRDO Launches Indigenous Assault Rifle "Uram" for Armed Forces.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) launched a new indigenous assault rifle named "Uram" (meaning Strength/Vigour in Tamil). Developed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune, the 7.62x51mm rifle is designed to replace aging insas rifles in frontline combat.
