A sudden rockfall in the Hushe Valley led to the tragic incident, which occurred during her expedition following a successful summit earlier that month.
- Laura Dahlmeier was the first female biathlete to win five gold medals at a single Biathlon World Championship held in 2017, marking her legacy as one of the most decorated athletes in the history of the sport. She also achieved global recognition for securing gold in both sprint and pursuit events during the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
