On July 1, 2025, Sunil Jayawant Kadam took charge as Executive Director of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in Mumbai, overseeing key departments including Information Technology, Investor Assistance, Economic & Policy Analysis, and the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM).
- A veteran with SEBI since 1996, Kadam’s experience spans Market Regulation, Surveillance, Investigations, Corporation Finance, and previously served as Registrar at NISM and Regional Director of SEBI’s Northern Regional Office.
- As Executive Director, he will supervise critical functions such as the Information Technology Department (ITD), Office of Investor Assistance & Education (OIAE), Department of Economic & Policy Analysis (DEPA), General Services Department (GSD), Board Cell, RTI & Parliamentary Questions Cell, and NISM affairs.
Main Point :- (i) Sunil Jayawant Kadam ’s regulatory acumen includes work in forensic accounting, e-voting, Indian Depository Receipts (IDRs), Business Responsibility Reports, and managing legal actions like searches, seizures, adjudication, and litigation.
(ii) He contributed to shaping policies through SEBI committees such as the Committee on Disclosures & Accounting Standards (SCODA) and by providing inputs for the OECD report on related-party transactions and minority shareholders’ protection.
(iii) Educationally, Kadam holds an MBA from the University of Pune and a postgraduate degree in Securities Law from Government Law College, Mumbai, blending management and legal expertise suited to his regulatory responsibilities.
